Welcome to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) Public Access Link (PAL) at the U.S Department of the Interior.
Create a PAL account to submit a FOIA or PA request and sign into your PAL account to:
- Check the status of your request(s).
- Communicate with the FOIA/Privacy offices, and
- Download records once they are released to you.
Important Considerations Before Submitting a Request
While the FOIA provides the public broad access to most agency records, if the records you want are maintained by the Department in a Privacy Act System of Records and pertain to you, your minor child, or an individual you represent, your best option for obtaining them is to submit a PA request.
